The Third International Conference on the Linguistics of Chinese-language Buddhist Sutras ends successfully at the DDM World Center

The Third International Conference on the Linguistics of Chinese-language Buddhist Sutras jointly hosted by Dharma Drum Buddhist College and National Chengchi University ended successfully on 3 November 2008. The Conference was held at the International Conference Hall of DDM World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taiwan.

In total, more than forty specialized linguists, who work on Buddhist sutras from Belgium, Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan, participated in the five-day international conference.

The President of Dharma Drum Buddhist College Venerable Hui Min said that the conference was fruitful, meaningful and constructive to Buddhist studies. Furthermore, more than 32 academic papers were released and fully discussed throughout the meetings.

The conference aimed to arouse the interests of postgraduate students and young researchers to work on the field of the linguistics of Buddhist sutras, thereby enhancing the quality of translations on Buddhist sutras in the future.
