DDM embarks on Buddhist exchanges and visits in China

Starting from 22 September 2008, the delegation of Dharma Drum Mountain's Sangha community, led by the Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong, embarked on its first seven-day Buddhist exchange and visit in China.

The DDM delegation was to visit Buddhist monasteries and honorable Masters in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Nantong and Jiashan, in the aim of promoting future exchanges between China's Buddhist circles and Dharma Drum Mountain.

Before leaving for China, the Most Venerable Master Sheng Yen reminded every delegate in the meeting that they must always hold a virtuous mind of exercising Chan during the tour.

On the afternoon of 22 September, both the Director and the Deputy Director of China's the State Administration for Religious Affairs, Mr Ye Xiaowen and Mr Qi Xiaofei, welcomed the DDM delegation at the International Airport in Beijing.

Director Ye also expressed his deepest gratitude to the DDM's quick humanitarian relief in severe quake-stricken regions in Sichuan Province, truly embodying the great compassion from the Most Venerable Master Sheng Yen and the DDM.

In addition to visiting China's Buddhist circles, the DDM delegation will also meet with Taiwanese businessmen and their families to spread the warmest blessings from Venerable Master Sheng Yen and to share Dharma wisdom.
