Honorable Buddhist Venerables visit DDM for the exchange of Sangha Education

With the aim of promoting an academic exchange of Sangha Education, on the morning of the 25th August 2008, seventy Buddhist venerables from mainland China, Thailand and Vietnam visited the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taipei County.

On behalf of the Venerable Master Sheng Yen and DDM, Venerable Guo Dong (Abbot President), Venerable Guo Hui (Deputy Abbot President) and the DDM Sangha community expressed a very warm welcome, with all looking forward to seeing closer exchanges amongst one another in the future.

Honorable guests initially visited the Grand Buddha Hall, the Wish Fulfilling Guanyin Hall, the Statue of Founding Guanyin, the Chan Hall and the Lotus Bell. They went on to convey their greatest gratitude to the Abbot President for his thorough introduction to the ideas of DDM's Venerable Master Sheng Yen, the DDM Sangha University, the Dharma Drum Buddhist College and the Chung Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies. They were amazed by the Centre's tranquil surroundings, providing a solid foundation for DDM's Sangha Education. During the tour some venerables from Thailand said they would take the Master's compassionate ideas back home as a reference for Dharma teachings.

During the lunch meeting, the Abbot President specially thanked Venerable Jing Yao and the All Buddhas and Sanghas Association, on behalf of Master Sheng Yen, for compassionately donating NT$500,000 at the Offering Ceremony in Taiwan in support of the DDM Sangha Education. He also gave an overview of the incumbent Six Ethics of the Mind campaign in Taiwan.

Before leaving for home, the honorable visitors unanimously agreed that the visit was fruitful and that they were hopeful to see more exchanges with DDM in the future.
