DDM Initiates New Campaign of "Good Vows Light Up the World"

On the afternoon of 15 January 2008, Dharma Drum Mountain hosted a press conference at The Grand Hotel in Taipei to announce the initiation of its new campaign – "Good Vows Light Up the World". DDM is working with the media to encourage people to take good vows and elevate levels of virtue in society, ahead of the upcoming Chinese New Year.

Representatives of Taiwan's major broadcasters, including China Times, United Daily News, Liberty Times, TVBS, Taiwan Television, China Television, ETTODAY Television, ERA Television, and Unique Television, were present at the conference.

Emphasizing the importance of making good vows, Venerable Master Sheng Yen stated his belief that the vows taken will certainly be fulfilled if they are practiced consistently. Representatives at the conference also promised to promote and practice the principles of the campaign through the media, thereby further encouraging the pursuit of virtue and happiness in society.

DDM believes that if all broadcasters commit themselves to reporting more news with a positive focus, the level of virtue in society would increase, consistent with DDM's vision of "uplifting the character of humanity to build a pure land on earth", and ultimately a harmonious society can be achieved.

In conclusion to the conference, Venerable Master Sheng Yen asserted his hope that the press conference would act as a catalyst, and that the inspirational stories of people taking good vows and doing good deeds would be broadcasted more often. After all, it is only through actively promoting the good and the virtuous that society can be filled with harmony, peace, happiness, hope and health.

May all people make good vows.
May all people do good deeds.
May everyone's fortune take a turn for the better.
