Master Sheng Yen's Chinese Calligraphy Artworks Attracted Enthusiastic Visitors in Taipei

Following the exhibition of Venerable Master Sheng Yen's Chinese calligraphy artworks in Taichung City, Tainan City, Kaohsiung City as well as the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education of Jinshan Township, Taipei County since February 2007, the exhibition tour of the Master's compassionate artworks has reached its last stop at Taipei City.

On the morning of 1 December 2007, Venerable Master Sheng Yen's 108 Chinese calligraphy artworks were officially unveiled at the Sinkong Mitsukoshi department store in Hsinyi New Life Square, Taipei.

Honorable guests present at the ceremony included founder and artistic director of Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan, Lin Hwaimin, widow of the founder and chairman of Sinkong Mitsukoshi Wu Huoshi, Madam Wu Kuelan, director of National Palace Museum, Lin Munlee, and president of National Police University, Shieh Ingdan. They all gave their warmest blessings to Venerable Master Sheng Yen.

In his remarks, Mr Lin Hwaimin said that Dharma Drum Mountain has offered the people of Taiwan a pure land to pacify our unsettled minds. Although Venerable Master Sheng Yen is the most compassionate Bhikkhu (monk) with an ocean-like wisdom, the Master's simple and inspirational teaching of the Dharma has been influential in stabilizing the community and society in Taiwan.

He continued to say that he believes the Master's artworks would bring people a great deal of consolation and inspiration, even after a hundred years from now. So, he encouraged every individual to view the artworks with the attitude of "Face It, Appreciate It and Collect It" for supporting the ongoing work and ensuring the success of Dharma Drum University.

The Master said that the problem of Taiwan's college education isn't about "quantity", but "quality". Dharma Drum Mountain has nearly thirty years of experience in cultivating and nurturing high-quality qualified talents with admirable characters that could give constructive contributions towards Taiwan's society. Hence, the Master warmly invited those interested in supporting the construction of Dharma Drum University to either purchase the calligraphy artworks or support DDM's other fundraising activities for this cause by contributing NT$5 a day for three years (NT$5,475 in total).

The exhibition opens daily from 11:00am to 21:30pm on the 7th floor of the A Hall of Sinkong Mitsukoshi department store at Hsinyi New Life Square in Taipei City until 11 December 2007. People are cordially invited to pay a vistit during the exhibition.
