The Abbot President Promotes the Master's Six Ethics in Ilan for Social Harmony

The Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Dong visited Ilan County on the afternoon of 13 October, 2007 to promote the Six Ethics. The Six Ethics were developed by Venerable Master Sheng Yen to raise social harmony and peace.

Venerable Guo Dong's inspirational speech attracted over four hundred people to attend this event. The speech focused on the essential elements of Six Ethics, which include Family Ethics, Living Ethics, Campus Ethics, Enterprise Ethics, Environmental Ethics and Ethnic Ethics. The Six Ethics have been actively promoted by DDM since 2006 as the guiding principles for uplifting human characters and promoting social harmony and peace. These six ethics are also considered more appropriate in today's society than the traditional Five Ethics.

If one does not follow the Six Ethics, one cannot find peace and happiness and one would even doubt the meaning of life. Therefore, Venerable Guo Dong stressed, "The value of life lies on contribution and sacrifice."

The Abbot President encouraged every attendee to uplift the character of humanity by cultivating a peaceful mind, body and family, and to cultivate blessings by recognizing blessings, cherishing blessings, nurturing blessings and even actively sowing the seeds of blessings.

Venerable Guo Dong's speech was truly inspirational as he had said that one should live in the present, truly care for others and give a hand to others with wisdom, peace and happiness.
