On 18 September, 2010, honorable guests from the China’s State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) headed by Director Zuoan Wang, visited the Dharma Drum Mountain World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan Township, Taipei.

In addition to expressing gratitude to Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) for the promotion and participation of ‘The Co-Exhibition of Buddhist Publications Across the Strait’ recently held at Taipei World Trade Center, Director Wang also met with Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong to discuss and further his understanding of DDM’s developments and Chinese Buddhism in Taiwan.

The Abbot President conveyed that DDM has placed significant effort in promoting purification of the mind in today’s society, based on the concept of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environmental’ initiated by the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen. It is a guideline to nurture individuals in collaboration with The Chung Hwa Institute of Buddhist Studies, Dharma Drum Buddhist College, Dharma Drum Sangha University, and Dharma Drum University.

Although this is Director Wang’s second visit to the Center, he nevertheless commented on the Center’s magnificent and solemn surroundings which continue to impress him very much even to this day. He continued to praise the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen for taking leadership in promoting Buddhist exchange across the Taiwan Strait and he also thanked the Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation for their continuing support in the reconstruction work in Sichuan’s quake affected areas.

At the end of the visit, Venerable Guo Dong concluded that DDM will continue to contribute to and promote peace in society by advocating purification of the mind, in hope of bringing the wisdom of Dharma to the society.
