DDMSWCF hosts camp in Sichuan to promote the idea of Protecting Spiritual Environment

The Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) hosted a summer camp, “The Camp for Protecting the Spiritual Environment & Life Education”, from 21st to 24th July, 2010, in Xiushui Township of Sichuan’s Mianyang City, China, with the aim of stimulating young people to think about the meaning of life.

The camp was guided by youth leaders from Taiwan, with over seven hundred young people from local schools, including Mianyang High School, Shifan High School and Minxing High School, taking part in the event.

The program was launched with the screening of the ‘2008 Disaster Relief in Sichuan’ documentary film, informing the students of DDMSWCF’s work in helping victims of the deadly earthquake.

During the camp, Deputy Abbot of DDM, Venerable Guo Pin, encouraged the students to face any challenge in life with a positive attitude and to convert those challenges into impetus for growth. “Only by making sacrifices for the happiness of others, can life be turned towards the positive.”

In addition to the introduction of DDMSWCF’s relief activities in Sichuan, the four-day camp also included various inspirational activities, such as the Fivefold Spiritual Renaissance Campaign, the Six Ethics of the Mind Campaign, the Eight Form Moving Mediation, as well as a teamwork session.
