DDM Wins Big Applause on Promoting Environmentalism
On April 22, Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Foundation and Dharma Drum Mountain Culture and Educational Foundation were honorably awarded with merit by the Cabinet-level Environmental Protection Administration (EPA) for their long-term achievements in promoting environmentalism in society.
Secretary General of the Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, Venerable Guo Qi, attended the ceremony on behalf of the two foundations. Venerable Guo Qi firstly expressed gratitude to the EPA’s approval, and continued to say that DDM continues its work on promoting environmental protection to safeguard our fragile environment.
Dharma Drum Mountain (DDM) has been promoting the idea of living harmoniously with our surroundings for a long time. For instance, DDM has greatly encouraged everyone to forsake incense and/or paper money burning in commemoration of ancestors as a way of preventing environmental pollution. The Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, has always said that only when one changes the mind towards nature, can the environment stand a greater chance for improvement.
