Opening of Dharma Drum University Branch Library in Xizhi District, Taipei

The Dharma Drum University (DDU) Branch Library was formally inaugurated in Taipei's Xizhi District on 27 March 2010. Library services commenced after Venerable Guo Fang and other monastics of the DDM Sangha Community conducted the Purification Ritual.

Honorable guests at the opening including President of Dharma Drum University, Dr. An-Chi Liu, Secretary General of Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, Venerable Guo Qi and Professors Ming-Xiu Jiang, Cheng-Tong Wei and Jin-Gui Hsieh. These guests attended the inauguration and presented their warmest blessings and wishes for the Xizhi Branch Library to have every success in servicing and helping more people.


President Liu said that it is DDU’s plan to establish Dharma Drum Degui College and the Xizhi Branch Library. These initiatives would offer humanity services for residents of Xizhi District and for people working in the Xizhi Science Park. He added that the library could also be used for Chan practice.

The President thanked compassionate volunteers, including Professors Cheng-Tong Wei and Jin-Gui Hsieh and the Himalaya Foundation for donating thousands of volumes of books. The President said that their compassionate donations have made DDU stronger in conveying knowledge and broadening services to the community.
