Abbot President calls for assistance to help survivors of the Haiti quake

Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong is calling on everyone to assist in relief efforts to help the survivors of the Haiti earthquake who are now in dire need of relief materials such as medication, food and drinking water.

"The devastating earthquake in Haiti has left millions of people homeless and has led to a death toll in hundreds of thousands. As we can see from the media coverage that many are suffering not only physical pain but psychological trauma as well," said Venerable Guo Dong.

Like other NGOs, DDM’s relief team is unable to enter the disaster areas right away. Nevertheless, at this critical time, as Buddhists, we shall pray for the survivors that they can be blessed by the Buddha to bring them peace and health.

In response to the disaster, Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation (DDMSWCF) has launched a fundraising campaign to raise money to purchase relief materials.
