Join us in prayer for Hualien Earthquake victims

At 11.50 p.m. on February 6, a 6.4-magnitude earthquake hit Hualien, on Taiwan’s east coast, damaging many buildings and causing some in the city of Hualien to cave in or tilt. The public shows their care and love for the affected, especially as the Chinese Lunar New Year in nearing. Dharma Drum Mountain Social Welfare and Charity Foundation immediately mobilized volunteers in the Hualien area and organized relief efforts, while keeping constant contact with local authorities to assess the needs for required personnel and material.

In addition, DDM branch monasteries at home and abroad have set up spiritual tablets for the deceased, disaster mitigation rituals for the injured, and prayer services for all beings. The merit is dedicated to all sentient beings, especially to wish the dead to gain a good rebirth, the injured to settle their minds, and the suffering to increase in well-being. DDM official Facebook page and global website has also launched the “Upholding the Dharani to Invoke Blessings” initiative to invite the public to compassionately pray for the deceased, injured, and their families, as well as the rescue personnel. With the merit of chanting the mantra and the Buddha’s name, we hope those who are suffering can soon overcome their difficult situations.
