Dharma Drum Mountain Offers Care to the Quake-affected Regions of Nepal

On April 25th, 2015, Saturday, a 7.8-magnitude earthquake hit Nepal and caused heavy casualties. As soon as the calamity had happened, Dharma Drum Mountain, together with all its overseas affiliates, immediately set calamity-quelled tablets to pray for blessings for those in need and the deceased. On top of that, DDM Social Welfare and Charity Foundation will soon dispatch a delegation to Nepal offering care and assistance in cooperation with related local Buddhist organizations.

Information of the deadly earthquake including aftershocks, avalanches, damage scale of buildings and death toll is still kept track by the local government. The Abbot President of DDM, Ven. Guo Dong, said, that in this digital era, although many of us may not be able to visit the stricken areas in person, we can still get a real-time understanding of the situation of victims and the rescue progress through media coverage and constantly offer care. Through this stage of uncertainty, he appeals to the public to pray sincerely for blessings for the victims and their successful rescue, adding that sincere wishes is definitely a kind of reassuring strength , whether or not any religious faiths are practiced.

The founder of DDM, the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen, once said: “Disasters are closely related to every person, so each of us has the responsibility of taking care of disaster-striken areas.” Therefore, DDM Sangha appeals to the public to share merits with the victims with unconditioned compassion. May the disaster be quelled, sentient beings be at ease and the world be at peace. May the deceased be reborn in good conditions , and the injured be reassured physically and mentally.
