Opening Ceremony of DDM Hong Kong Island Center

The opening ceremony of DDM Hong Kong Island Center on Queen’s Road West was held on October 11, 2014. At 11 a.m., the Abbot President of DDM, Ven. Guo Dong, led devotees in a consecrated chanting session to bless the center.

The Abbot President pointed out that there are other DDM affiliates in Kowloon and Hong Kong Island besides the Hong Kong Island Center. DDM, an orthodox Buddhist organization, has set out to help those in need develop right and skillful means to a balanced life through right thought, right understanding, right view and right actions. This is particularly pertinent as modern lifestyle nowadays generates a lot of stress and distress; it is hoped that the Buddha dharma as well as Chan meditation and practice could strike a balance between daily and spiritual life.

The Abbot President also mentioned that the consecration ceremony should serve as a reminder for everyone to cultivate the light of compassion and wisdom as well as to develop our Buddha-nature; the example set forth by the Guanyin Bodhisattva should be emulated. In addition, DDM’s “Six Ethics of the Mind” provides guidance in regards to our family, daily living, school, environment, workplace and interpersonal relationships.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of DDM branch in Hong Kong and Buddhist devotees expressed their gratitude and joy in being able to learn and practice the Buddha Dharma. In order to serve the community better, DDM Hong Kong Island Center is offering Beginner’s Meditation Class on December 13 and 14; this class is highly suitable for those leading a busy and stressful life.
