Volunteers Needed for the DDM Great Compassion Water and Land Dharma Service
The Water and Land Dharma Service is the biggest dharma service event in Chinese Buddhism. Dharma Drum Mountain will be organizing The Great Compassion Water and Land Dharma Service from December 6 through 13, 2014; applications for certain individual altar positions will be open to the public from October 11, 2014. In addition, DDM is utilizing digital memorial tablets as well as cloud computing system for the chanting sessions to reflect on its environmental protection policy; with immediate effect, those interested to serve as volunteers for this event can sign up with the DDM Volunteers Room.
Volunteers are also needed to help with accommodations, recycling, general affairs, ad-hoc situations, kitchen duties, etc. In appreciation for the time and effort put in by volunteers, DDM will be setting up a special area called “Infinite Practices Altar” for volunteers where they can also participate in the morning services and dharma talks by venerables during their off duty hours; as such, volunteers could join in the practice of the Buddha Dharma too.
You, Xiu Mei, a dedicated volunteer for the past 8 years, believes that serving as a volunteer enhances her ability to practice the six paramitas even though she is unable to attend the event of joint sutras chanting. Moreover, the “Four Steps in Dealing with Problems: Face it, Accept it, Deal with it, Let it go” by the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen helps her tremendously whenever she faces difficulties in her work and she strongly encourages those facing problems to utilize these four steps.
