Yunji Monastery Celebrates the Buddha’s Birthday

On 19 May 2013, the Yunji Monastery of Dharma Drum Mountain in Tainan City hosted the Bathing Buddha Dharma Assembly and Gala Party in celebration of Vesak Day and the promotion of environmental protection.

Director of Yunji Monastery Venerable Guo Chien explained that the purpose of the assembly was not only to celebrate the Buddha’s birthday but also for people to purify their mind and to nurture Dharma wisdom.

The gala party was hosted to advocate the vision of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environmental’ and 55 stalls were setup across the street from the monastery at Zhongshan Park. Visitors learned how to take a step towards this path through recycling, vegetarianism, reading Master Sheng Yen’s publications and calligraphy Chan.
