Abbot President Give Speech at National Cheng Kung University

On the afternoon of 14th of April 2013, Abbot President of Dharma Drum Mountain, Venerable Guo Dong, went to the National Cheng Kung University in Tainan City to introduce to the values of the Six Ethics of the Mind. 1,500 people attended the speech.

This spectacular speech was given under the warm invitation from the Mayor of Tainan City, Ching-Te Lai, who wanted to introduce Tainan’s residents to DDM’s humanistic values, and to promote an atmosphere where harmony naturally exists among the citizens.

Venerable Guo Dong said that The Six Ethics of the Mind - Family Ethics, Living Ethics, School Ethics, Environmental Ethics, Workplace Ethics, and Ethics between ethnic groups - are neither concrete doctrines nor suffocating bonds, rather they are cures that could help people obtain mindful peace. He went onto stress that happiness is not from material pleasure; it only exists when we have our minds changed towards positive thinking.

Before concluding the speech, the Abbot President encouraged every audience to bear a positive mindset towards difficulties and with others, for it is then life would be filled with compassion, peace, and blessing.
