DDSU Holds the Tenth Awakening Camp

The Dharma Drum Sangha University (DDSU) held the Tenth Awakening Camp at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education. The 9-day camp started on 29 January, 2013, attracting a total of 194 young people from Taiwan as well as other countries.

The camp’s program was tailor-made by DDSU students to allow participants to experience a short-term monastic life during which they could cultivate peace in their minds, experience the joy of Chan, and learn to be compassionate.

Venerable Chang Yue said that the camp provides them with the opportunity to nurture compassion, wisdom, harmony, and respect, all of which are also core values of DDSU. Thus, for students of DDSU and camp attendees, the awakening camp was a great experience of self-growth and an opportunity to discover the power of the mind.

Although their intentions for attending the camp varied, every participant was able to learn to settle their vexed minds, and to kick start their own journey in understanding their minds.
