The DDM Shuiyue Practice Center Holds the First Refuge-Taking Ceremony

Following its inauguration on 30 December 2012, the Shuiyue Practice Center of the Nung Chan Monastery held its first Refuge-Taking Ceremony on the following morning.

More than 3,000 people made compassionate vows in the Grand Buddha Hall to take the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha (Three Jewels) to be their spiritual refuge, becoming devoted Buddhists.

The Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, conducted the ceremony. He said that the DDM is based on the idea of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environment’, by nurturing compassion and the Dharma’s wisdom. If one is dedicated and practises compassion in everyday life, one shall always feel peace in their mind and be surrounded by blessings.

Director of the Nung Chan Monastery Venerable Guo Tsan said that the newly built Shuiyue Practice Center will now be the home to a variety of programs for people to get in touch with the Dharma. It is a dharma education portal serving the spiritual needs of its people.
