Baozhu Monastery’s Venerable Master Benle Visits DDM World Center

On the morning of 13 September, 2012, 93-year-old Master Benle of Baozhu Monastery, in Wuhan City of China’s Hebei province, and almost one hundred of Baozhu’s monks and lay practitioners, visited the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education for the first time.

DDM Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong and DDM Vice Abbot President, Venerable Guo Hui, greeted the honorable guests and gave Master Benle a tour of the World Center whilst introducing DDM’s ideals, goals and the philosophies of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen, founder of DDM.

Whilst visiting the Chan Hall, Venerable Master Benle compassionately led everyone to practice Chan meditation for 15 minutes and shared his personal experiences on Chan meditation and Chan promotion. Master Benle said he was amazed by the Center’s Chan environment—full of peace and the feeling of humanism—and by Master Sheng Yen’s great ideas on the promotion of orthodox Chinese Buddhism.

The 93-year-old master said DDM's promotion of Chan meditation and orthodox Chinese Buddhism was a great example for Baozhu Monastery. He also encouraged the DDM Sangha to firmly carry on Master Sheng Yen’s compassionate vows and continue to propagate orthodox Chinese Buddhism for the interest of all sentient beings.
