Taipei’s Department of Civil Affairs Recognizes CHIBC & the NCM for Humanitarianism

On the morning of 24 September, 2012, both the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture and the Nung Chan Monastery received honors for humanitarianism from the Department of Civil Affairs of Taipei City Government at the International Convention Center of National Taiwan University Hospital.

Venerable Jian Xin and Venerable Chang Ji attended the ceremony to receive honors from the Mayor of Taipei, Mr. Lung-Bin Hao, along with another 44 non-profit religious institutes.

Mr. Hao expressed that the Taipei City Government appreciates and recognises the achievements of the Chung-Hwa Institute of Buddhist Culture and the Nung Chan Monastery for their long-term humanitarian work for local communities and the disadvantaged, and for their educational programs promoting well-being, such as Chan activities, summer camps on environmentalism and spiritual counselling.
