In the afternoon of 15 August, 2012, Venerable Master Ukmara Bhivamsa made his first visit to the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education for an exchange of Theravada and orthodox Chinese Buddhism.

The visit was organized by Taiwan’s Association of Theravada Buddhism to understand the characteristics of Chinese Buddhism in Taiwan and the idea of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environment’ advocated by the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen, the Founder of Dharma Drum Mountain.

On behalf of the DDM Sangha Community, Vice Abbot President, Venerable Guo Hui, received the honorable guests and introduced the development and missions of the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education and Master Sheng Yen’s ideas during a tea gathering.

After touring the Grand Buddha Hall, the Founding Memorial Hall and the Wish Fulfilling Guanyin Hall, the visit came to an end with both sides conducting an exchange of gifts.
