DDM Offers Deepest Condolence on the Death of His Eminence Cardinal Paul Shan

The Dharma Drum Mountain offers its deepest condolence on the death of His Eminence Cardinal Paul Shan (Kuo-Hsi, Shan), who had died at the age of 90 on the evening of 22 August 2012 after a long battle with lung cancer.

The Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong, on the morning of 24 August, attended the memorial service of Cardinal Paul Shan held at Taipei’s Catholic Archdiocese on behalf of the DDM Sangha to offer DDM’s deepest condolence.

He said Cardinal Paul Shan was held in high esteem and respected for his wisdom, spiritual guidance and contributions to the society. Although Cardinal Shan has passed away, his humanitarian spirit still lives on and will always be remembered.

In honor and commemoration of Cardinal Paul Shan, the DDM has placed a memorial tablet in the Jeweled Repentance of Emperor Liang of the Nung Chan Monastery for people to pay their warmest tributes.
