Philippines House of Representatives Thank DDM’s Swift Humanitarian Aid After Cyclone Washi

On the morning of 23 July 2012, President of Taiwan Association Philippines INC., Mr. David Shih (Ming-Hsin Shih), on behalf of the House of Representatives of the Philippines, visited the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education and handed the Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong a letter entitled Resolution No. 258.

According to Mr. Shih, Resolution No. 258 symbolizes the Philippines government’s deepest gratitude towards DDM’s humanitarian aid following the deadly tropical cyclone Washi which stormed through southern Philippines. He said that without the swift responses of DDM providing villagers with relief materials, as well as giving spiritual comfort, those homes wrecked in the storm could not have been restored so efficiently.

At the meeting, the Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong acknowledged the kindness of Taiwan Association Philippines INC. and the Philippines government for allowing DDM to offer humanitarian aid. He expressed that whilst those selfless humanitarian aid workers were Bodhisattvas, those suffering villagers were also great Bodhisattvas as they had inspired a rise of compassion and wisdom within us.
