DDM Hosts the 4th International Sheng Yen Education Foundation Conference in Honor of the Master’s Thoughts

The Sheng Yen Education Foundation hosted the 4th International Sheng Yen Education Foundation Conference from 1st to 4th June 2012 at the Convention Center of National Taiwan University, where over a hundred of Buddhist scholars and professionals from around the world attended, and over sixty well-researched papers on the Master’s thoughts were presented.

DDM’s Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong offered blessings to the conference participants, and emphasized that the aim of the conference is to introduce and promote the Dharma and the compassionate thoughts of the Most Venerable Master Sheng Yen to the world. The Abbot President spoke of the Master’s teaching that whilst ‘Buddhist heritage’ should be carefully considered in the process of understanding orthodox Chinese Buddhism, the employment of skillful means is also very important.

In wrapping up his opening speech, the Abbot President said he hopes the 4-day conference will help generate more systematic and practical approaches for understanding the Master’s compassionate teachings.
