Hong Kong’s Central Policy Unit Visits the DDM World Center to Understand the late Master Sheng Yen’s Vision

On 12 June, 2012, the 39-member delegation of the Central Policy Unit of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region visited DDM World Center for Buddhist Education in Jinshan District of New Taipei City for the first time to enhance their understanding of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen’s vision.

Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong and Vice Abbot President Venerable Guo Pin of Dharma Drum Mountain, personally received the honored guests and offered their warmest blessings. They guided the guests on a tour of DDM, visiting the Grand Buddha Hall, the Wish Fulfilling Guanyin Hall and the Founding Memorial Hall.

During their meeting, they discussed topics on the development of Buddhism and the influence of the Master Sheng Yen in Taiwan, Sangha education, and charity. Venerable Guo Dong presented DDM’s efforts in working towards the Master’s vision, which are in line with the principle of ‘Protecting the Spiritual Environment’. This concept is a method that teaches one how to uplift one’s character, and manage difficulties with a calm mind for the fulfillment of a pure land on earth.

Venerable Chang Che introduced the Eight Form Moving Meditation to the honored guests so that they too could experience the joy of Chan practice, relaxing the body and mind. The exercise enabled them to realize the significance of being mindful in any activity.

The visit concluded with the exchange of gifts and the guests departed with greater knowledge and understanding of Master Sheng Yen’s vision.
