Thousand People Vow to Become Faithful Buddhists

On the 15th of April 2012, the Refuge-Taking Ceremony 2012 took place at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education.

Thousands of people had registered to make a faithful vow of becoming a Buddhist of Three Jewels in the Grand Buddha Hall at the DDM World Center.

Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong had presided the ceremony himself. He mentioned that everyone has a clean nature within the mind for awakening. Learning the Dharma is therefore to learn the Buddha’s wisdom and compassion that have enabled one to let go of vexation and ignorance for reclaiming purity.

The Abbot President also explained that the idea of impermanence in Buddhism actually teaches a person to cherish those he has owned and loved, rather than indulging in negative attitudes of hopelessness and inactiveness.

In closing, Abbot President encouraged every green Buddhist to faithfully observe the teachings of the Three Jewels for wisdom, peace, and happiness in life.
