Nung Chan Monastery Celebrates Vesak Day

On the morning of the 5th of May 2012, Nung Chan Monastery held a prayer ritual and a gala party to celebrate Vesak Day and Mother’s Day and to arouse one’s awareness of environmentalism.

DDM’s Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong, together with the Commissioner of the Department of Civil Affairs of Taipei City Government, Lu Ching-Ju Huang and local celebrities were all present to offer their blessings.

Before the prayer ritual, the Abbot President said that the positive energy in the universe could be uplifted if one wholeheartedly embraced any challenge with gratitude. He encouraged everyone to manifest the original Buddha nature in their heart and to hold an active attitude towards life. That will lead to a better society.

The activities were inspiring and the participants were able to experience the wisdom of Chan (Zen), the interest of vegetarianism and to comprehend the significance of environmentalism.
