On the morning of 16 April 2012, Zhanzong Rinpoche of the Taiwan-based Tibet Religious Foundation of H. H. the Dalai Lama visited DDM’s Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong and the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education, to gain some further understanding of DDM’s progress with Buddhist education.

They were joined by Venerable Hui Min, President of the Dharma Drum Buddhist College and Venerable Guo Guang, Vice President of the DDM Sangha University, who were invited by the Abbot President to give their insights about DDM’s Buddhist education program.

The Tibet Religious Foundation of H.H. the Dalai Lama is planning to establish a Tibetan Buddhist college in Taiwan. Rinpoche stated that DDM’s progress over the years with Buddhist education in Taiwan has been very inspiring.

The Abbot President offered encouragement, saying that there had been some drawbacks with the progress of Buddhist education, but opportunities arise at different times, and perseverance is needed to make the most of opportunities when the time is right He reminded everyone that one of the purposes of Buddhist education is to teach one how to experience the Dhamma in daily life, as well as gaining an academic understanding of the Dhamma.
