DDBC Celebrates the 5th Anniversary

The Dharma Drum Buddhist College (DDBC) celebrated its 5th anniversary on the 8th of April, 2012 at the DDM World Center for Buddhist Education.

In addition to Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong and President of the DDBC Venerable Hui Min, the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan), Vincent Hsiao (Wan-Chang Hsiao) also attended the event giving a speech and offering his personal blessings.

The celebration began with a grand performance by the Drum Team of DDM, followed by a speech from the DDBC President, Venerable Gui Min. During the speech, the President not only shared the institution’s vision with everyone, he also emphasized that ethics is the prime concern of the education given at DDBC.

Abbot President Venerable Guo Dong offered his personal blessing, expressing an appreciation of the dedication and effort that DDBC has devoted into the cultivation of qualified and talented Buddhists. In line with teachings of the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen, founder of DDM and the DDBC, the Abbot President also took advantage of the event to deeply thank everyone who had contributed to DDBC.

Vice President Hsiao agreed that faith has played a significant motive to forming positive character and religion also has played a good part in maintaining social peace. He said the late Venerable Master Sheng Yen had left behind valuable assets and uncompleted compassionate vows. In this, DDM shall work hard towards the fulfillment of creating ‘the pure land on earth’.

DDBC also organized a variety of activities for the afternoon, including a tea party and painting exhibition.
