Give your self one day for meditation — a day to still the mind. Learn how to apply methods of meditation and mindfulness while sitting, walking, exercising, working, eating, and all other activities. The simple and relaxed schedule allows you to settle your mind while at the same time allowing you to maintain a constant silent awareness of your every activity.

This silent retreat also offers brief Dharma talks, guided meditations, and a review of basic meditation methods such as breath awareness and total mind-body relaxation. The fee includes a vegetarian lunch.

Most people find that attending these retreats regularly helps renew the strength of their daily practice.


Yan Ben Fashi

Before his ordination in 2014, Yan Ben Fashi had been volunteering at Dharma Drum Mountain in Taiwan for over ten years. During this time, he obtained his PhD in Sociology from the University of Manchester, UK. The topic of his doctoral dissertation was Chinese Buddhist Moral Practices in Everyday Life: Dharma Drum Mountain, Volunteering and the Self. In 2016 Yan Ben Fashi came to the United States from Taiwan to become a resident teacher at Dharma Drum Retreat Center.

Chang Xing Fashi

In 2009, Chang Xing Fashi was ordained as a Buddhist monk. He studied in Dharma Drum Sangha University in Taiwan, where he majored in Chinese Chan Buddhism, graduating in 2015. In 2017, he moved to Dharma Drum Retreat Center to share meditation in North America.
