This event is open to all Dharma friends who have been volunteers at DDRC for for at least three years, or who have volunteered at an intensive retreat at least five times. The precious teachings of our respected founder and teacher, Chan Master Sheng Yen (Shifu) live on when we utilize videos of his talks from past retreats. In this way, we hope to preserve and continue to share the Dharma Drum Lineage's Chan practice with the world, and give practitioners an opportunity to hear these teachings on intensive retreat, as spoken directly from the founder himself. In addition to receiving instruction from Shifu's video lectures, you will also have guidance from an experienced Chan supervisor who will lead the practice in the Chan Hall. In Our Times (literally “The Time of My Teenage Years”,) Truly Lin is an ordinary office worker who gets ridiculed by her subordinates. Dejected, she listens to an old Andy Lau song that brings her back to her high school days. There was a time Truly Lin received a chain letter, warning her of impending doom if not passing the message on. Hsu Tai-yu received the message and got injured in a car accident when reading it. After weeding out the letter’s sender, the angry Tai-yu made Truly Lin his ‘friend’ and forced her to run errands for him. Soon after, Tai-yu discovers a brain clot caused by the car accident and his parents decide to send him overseas, leaving Truly Lin with no way to contact him. 18 years later, Truly Lin and Tai-yu come across to each other in Andy Lau concert that takes place in Taipei.
