Venerable Guo Xing Gives Dharma Talks at DDMBASF

The director of both Dharma Drum Retreat Center and Chan Meditation Center in New York, Venerable Guo Xing, gave Dharma talks and presided over activities from 9-13 June, 2011, at the practice center of Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association in San Francisco (DDMBASF).

On the first day, Venerable Guo Xing did not take a rest after a long flight from New York but compassionately went directly to DDMBASF’s practice center for the handover ceremony of the convenership of DDMBASF.

With warmest blessings from Venerable Guo Xing, the new convener of DDMBASF, Mr Zhi-Lung Shih, assumed the responsibilities from the previous convener, Mr Hung-Chung Chang. New convener Shih said that he would with maximum enthusiasm strive for the promotion of the ‘Six Ethics of the Mind’ and ‘building a pure land on earth’ through BBASF.

On the evenings of 10 and 11 June, Venerable Guo Xing gave two Dharma talks, ‘Perceiving Life and Death on Chan (Zen)’ and ‘Silent Illumination Chan & The Chan Practice of Huatou & the Surangama Sutra’, to over 150 DDM followers in San Francisco. For the convenience of those who were not able to attend, DDMBASF compassionately broadcast the talks online.

Venerable Guo Xing’s visit was wrapped up with the instruction of the 18-member Chan Meditation Camp. The inspirational program included an introduction to Dharma instruments, the Great Repentance Dharma Assembly, and the practice of Eight Form Moving Meditation.
