DDM Vancouver hosts a gathering to commemorate Venerable Master Shen Yen and to celebrate the 2010 New Year

On the afternoon of 6th February, 2010, more than two hundred people gathered at Dharma Drum Mountain in Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) to commemorate one year since Master Sheng Yen’s passing, and concurrently, for the celebration of the 2010 New Year.

The commemoration event began by the exposition of two films, titled “Chan Mind at Ease, Profile of Master Sheng Yen” and “Influential Examples of Master Sheng Yen”. This was followed by the participants’ review of DDM Vancouver’s activities and accomplishments throughout 2009.

The Venerable Master Sheng Yen once said, “The purpose of life is to receive karmic results, fulfill old vows, and make new ones.” In accordance to the Venerable’s words, the Director of DDM Vancouver, Venerable Guo Shu, encouraged the participants of the event to make great vows, to fulfill them, and ultimately nurture their heart and soul in achieving a good and meaningful life.

The event concluded with a fascinating drum performance. Despite the short 4-month period the young performers had to practice, they performed wholeheartedly and remarkably; earning a wave of standing ovations.
