DDMBA hosts the 2010 Northern American Dharma Meeting in New York

Dharma Drum Mountain Buddhist Association (DDMBA) in Northern America hosted the ‘2010 Dharma Meeting in North America, DDMBA’ at Dharma Drum Retreat Center in New York from 29 to 30 October, 2010.

Over sixty volunteers and DDM monastics from DDM branch offices across America gathered for a brainstorm session regarding the propagation of the Dharma and nurturing of Buddhist talents in Northern America.

Abbot President of DDM Venerable Guo Dong traveled from Taipei to bless the volunteers and monastics, to show his care as well as participate in the discussion. This is the first meeting held by DDMBA since Master Sheng Yen relinquished his body in February 2009.

Venerable Guo Dong said that he was deeply touched by the enthusiasm of the volunteers to follow the footsteps of the late Master Sheng Yen in the West by helping people be acquainted with Buddhism and upholding the Three Jewels (the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha). He encouraged volunteers and monastics to continue their commitment to the Master’s vision of ‘building a pure land on earth’.

During the three-day discussion, participants concurred that DDMBA should commit to propagating the Dharma by nurturing meditation supervisors and talented Chan meditation facilitators.
