What is Chan meditation?

On 28 February, 2010, Dharma Drum Mountain Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) in the hope of attracting more non-Chinese speakers to get to know Chan (Zen), offered a one-day program, “Living Chan”, led by the Abbot of Dharma Drum Retreat Center in New York, Venerable Guo Xing.
A series of Dharma talks on the Sutra of Eight Realizations of Great Beings was presented by Venerable Guo Che in San Francisco from 14 January to 17 February, 2010.

Dharma Drum Mountain (Sydney) hosted a ceremony on the 21st February 2010 to mark the first anniversary of the passing of Master Sheng Yen, founder of Dharma Drum Mountain.

On the afternoon of 6th February, 2010, more than two hundred people gathered at Dharma Drum Mountain in Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) to commemorate one year since Master Sheng Yen’s passing, and concurrently, for the celebration of the 2010 New Year.
Dharma Drum Mountain in Malaysia held a three-day training program with the aim to cultivate more talents capable of managing study groups and guiding the members.

Nothing is permanent, and that was what one could deduce immediately when we returned to BGF, on a second trip with Chang Wen Fashi, to live and share Dharma moments with BGF again.
On 14 November, 2010, Dharma Drum Mountain Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) hosted the Refuge-Taking Ceremony, presided by the Abbot President, Venerable Guo Dong.
This was the first time I had ever been on retreat. I was very excited but also a little scared that I would find it too difficult. I had already indicated to our group leader that I wanted to take the three refuges so I was looking forward to that.

On the morning of 22 May, 2010, Dharma Drum Mountain in Vancouver (DDM Vancouver) celebrated the Vesak Festival with the bathing of the Buddha ceremony. Over 230 Buddhist followers from the great Vancouver metropolitan region attended the gathering.
