In the evening of 14 November 2008, Dharma Drum Mountain hosted a thanksgiving celebration at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York (TECONY).

CMC presented the movie, "Dhamma Brothers" on Friday, December 5, 2008 as part of "Movies and Mind",a program where films are shown so people can learn buddhadharma through cinema on the first Friday of every month.

On 12 October 2008, Dharma Drum Mountain in Malaysia (DDM Malaysia) conducted a Dharma event at their new office to introduce the "Six Ethics of the Mind" and Chan meditation practice.

So far, Venerable Guo Chuan has given us a tour of the outer perimeter of the palace (a colorful metaphor for the Lotus Sutra). On Sunday, October 26, 2009, we entered the palace gates, so to speak.

On 3 October 2008, the Prior of Dharma Drum Mountain, Vancouver (DDM Vancouver), Venerable Guo Shu and nine other volunteers accepted an invitation to visit the local Richmond Hospital.

On October 12, during the Sunday Open House, Venerable Guo Chuan started an 8 week series of dharma talks on the Lotus Sutra.

On Sunday, October 19, 2008, Venerable Guo Chuan continued her talk on the Lotus Sutra as part of the 8-week lecture series. She provided a brief overview of the various Buddhist schools of thought and the meaning of the sutra's title.

Dharma Drum Mountain in Malaysia (DDM Malaysia) hosted the Moonlight Festival on 10 September 2008, its last event before relocation.

On Friday, October 17, 2008, CMC held a screening of How to Cook Your Life, the first of three movies to be shown in this fall's series of "Movies and Mind", where people can learn about buddhadharma through cinema and discussions. The documentary stars Edward Espe Brown, a long-time chef, Zen practitioner and student of Suzuki Roshi.

On Sunday, September 28, 2008, Bill Wright gave a lecture on "The Three Seals" at CMC. Currently a dharma teacher in training, he is a long-term follower of Master Sheng Yen, and teaches workshops on "Dharma 10" and the "Four Noble Truths". The Three Seals are the subject of the Buddha's second sermon after attaining enlightenment.
